5 Fabulous Christmas present ideas for women over 50

Sometimes it can be difficult to know what to buy women over 50. With this in mind I asked the women in our Getting Fit Over Fifty group what they would like.  Here are my top five suggestions based on what they told me. So if you know a health conscious 50 plus woman, why not buy her something from my top five picks. If you like these ideas yourself why not pass this blog onto someone who will be buying for you this Christmas.

(Disclaimer: apart from the Fit Over Fifty Women’s Programme listed here, I have no financial links to any of these products and will not receive any payment should you purchase one of these items)

Great fitness gear

I am such a fan of Lucy Locket Loves fitness clothes. Lucy has written a blog titled ‘This is what your gym class really looks like’ which makes my heart sing as I’m always ranting on about the images of women that so called health magazines frequently publish. Lucy has some amazing leggings that come in sizes from 6 to 22 that don’t work their way down and leave you with a ‘low hanging gusset’ (never a great look). I particularly love this ‘wicking’ T Shirt. Do you know a woman who would look great in this in the gym or on the park run? Also check out the ‘She Believed She Could So She Did Medal Hanger’ for those competition mad 50/60/70 somethings in your life.

2. A classy kit bag

I really hope someone buys me this Sweaty Betty Backpack I rarely ever use a bag without two shoulder straps these days. They are great because they keep your shoulders away from your ears and ensure that any weight you are carrying is evenly distributed as you walk. So brilliant for your posture and your back! The design of this bag means you can also hold your pilates/yoga mat underneath. How cool is that!

3. A Strength and Conditioning Programme

Ok of course I have a vested interest in this one! But it is really good (even if I say so myself) and I’ve had so much interest in this programme that supports women over 50 to get stronger, protect those bones and increase their energy levels. The next online programme starts on January 20th. Check it out here Beginners Strength and Conditioning Programme Special Offer 20% off if you buy before December 25th! Use the code XMAS18 If you buy her a place on this why not add in a pair of 2k Dumbells. Sorted!

4. An inspirational book

There’s nothing like reading about inspirational women to make you want to get out there and exercise! I love the title of this book and that Dara launched her Olympic comeback as a new mother at the age of forty-one, years after she had retired from competitive swimming and eight years after her last Olympics.

5. A chance to learn something new

Learning something new has been shown to be good for the brain, particularly in the second half of our lives. This Learn To Navigate Course is on my to do list for 2019. Who knows, it could mean I am never lost again (for 2 hours!) after a 12 mile hike! Clare runs Navigation for Women courses in the beautiful Peak District. These include map reading and compass skills. Learn to navigate course A fantastic present for the woman who loves the great outdoors.

I hope you have found something here you like. I am looking forward to the new year and am excited about what 2019 might bring. Fit over Fifty Women has and will continue to be, an exciting project. I am lucky to hear on a daily basis about amazing women seeking to improve their health and fitness. Thank you for your support, reading my blogs and contributing to our communities on Facebook. I wish you a very merry Christmas.
